Copy & Editorial Manager
Cake is the one stop shop for all things sexual wellness, helping individuals and couples have more fun in the bedroom. We are now looking for a talented copywriter to help bring the Cake voice to life across our site, packaging, ads, emails, social and more!
The primary role of this individual will be focused on helping create and execute on an editorial plan for Cake’s content arm - Sex Ed. Don’t worry, it’s getting an overhaul. That’s why we’re looking for a person to manage all content creation.
If you’re a storyteller at heart and into exploring sexual journies we’ll get along swimmingly.
You'll work closely with Cake’s CMO, Director of Marketing and Creative Director to map out our editorial calendar and lead all aspects of the content-development processes for our team.
What You’ll Do
Work with the creative director to further develop the Cake brand voice, document and communicate it to freelancers, and write copy for all day-to-day creative.
Own and manage the research and copywriting process for all company assets and communications, including Sex Ed articles, email, SMS, social media, packaging and instructions, press releases, ads, etc.
Develop a content approach with a focus on education and how our products might fit into a person’s sexual exploration journey, rather than purely focusing on selling product features
Work with the head of brand marketing to guide the editorial direction of Sex Ed, including what themes and topics we should cover, SEO keywords we should target, new content formats we should produce, etc.
Own the day-to-day of SexEd, by managing a team of freelance writers and medical reviewers to coordinate the content-production process from start to finish, focusing on innovation and quality over quantity.
Own developmental research, editing, and proofreading to ensure adherence to content guidelines and freelance writer coaching, recruitment, and engagement.
Measure the impact of our content marketing strategy, including its influence on acquisition and conversions.
You’re a pro at developing, managing, and executing editorial strategy. You’ve done this before, with demonstrated ability (2-5 years) working in copywriting, editorial, content marketing, content development, or a related role. You also know how to be flexible with priorities, responsibilities, and deadlines.
You’re an outstanding editor and proofreader. You enjoy taking written work from draft form to publication. You have strong opinions about the Oxford comma — and are an AP Stylebook pro.
You’re a strong writer. Emails, social media promotions, blog posts, packaging, ads — whatever it is, you’re skilled in coming up with the right words and can get your point across in a limited space.
You enjoy tying the work that you do to results. Awareness of marketing metrics and hunger for customer feedback.
You have experience with tools like Shopify, Google Analytics, SEO-research tools like SEMRush, project management tools, and other technologies necessary for editing and publishing content.
Bonus points if…
You have a vast understanding of SEO
Have a background in sexual health or sex education
